THE STORY

THE STORY

Fear Not is a short film made for a Christmas service, built around a reading of the shepherds' story from Luke 2. Rather than dialogue, the scripture itself is recited over a cinematic visual retelling of the shepherds' encounter with an angel in the fields at night, an attempt to capture the weight of what an experience like that would actually feel like.

Process

Most of my work is documentary-style: following real people and real situations as they unfold, with the story shaped by what actually happens in front of the camera. Fear Not was a departure from that. Building a set and working out the shots ahead of time meant approaching the story as a director shaping every frame, rather than following one that was already unfolding on its own.
