Thailand

A short documentary shaped by place, movement, and quiet observation.

THE STORY

THE STORY

Thailand follows several days spent with field staff living and working in the country, made to give their supporting community back home a clearer picture of daily life there. Filmed over three days moving through the city, the documentary follows the field staff through their daily routines and the environment they live and work in.

Process

Most of my work is built around a planned setup: an interview, lighting, prepared questions, time to compose each shot. Thailand was the opposite. Three days in an unfamiliar city with no chance to set up or reshoot, adapting to whatever the day presented in the moment. It’s a different discipline than a controlled shoot: quicker instincts, less certainty, more trust in what’s actually in front of the camera.
